The number of searches for the terms “Bitcoin,” “Bitcoin plummeting” and “Bitcoin dying” on Google’s search engine soared to new heights as the value of bitcoin plummeted.

The number of Google searches for “Bitcoin death” has risen to a new high amid the ongoing meltdown in the crypto market.

For example, when bitcoin experiences extreme price fluctuations, more retail investors come into the scene and vice versa.

As such, Google searches have been weak in the past several months but came back last week when Bitcoin dropped more than $10,000 in this time frame to an 18-month low of $17,500.

Google searches for “Bitcoin” exploded and reached their highest level in 13 months.

Interestingly, most of the searches came from El Salvador which was the first country ever to legalize Bitcoin, followed by Nigeria, Austria, the Netherlands and Switzerland.
