After months of investigation, the convict’s identity was revealed, and ERSOU contacted the Yorkshire and Humber Regional Cybercrime Unit and Kirklees Police.

Yorkshire’s cybercrime unit and Kirklees police have begun a further investigation by monitoring Barclay’s routine distributions to a local post office of addresses linked to it.

In November 2021, the drug dealer was arrested by the Kirklees program’s precision officers.

After his arrest, authorities searched his possessions, including his personal computers, to discover the drugs he was offering for sale and the cryptocurrency he was holding.

Simon Barclay was sentenced to nine years in prison for his crimes.

The convict will also face a proceeds of crime hearing later this year.

It is worth noting that “Barclay” is not the first person to use cryptocurrency in drug deals, as there are thousands of people around the world who take advantage of it and most of them use stores on the dark web.
