The hack works with the help of the template feature in the Microsoft application, which allows users to load and execute HTML and JS from external sources within the application.

In general, allowing JS and HTML execution from untrusted sources is actually very dangerous.

Once executed, the exploit runs a command that launches the Microsoft Support Diagnostic Tool, which support agents use to debug the operating system with the help of remote access.

In this step, things get very serious.

The main target of the hacker may be the private keys which are usually stored on the users’ personal computers.

Once access is granted, there is no way to save the operating system.

The only way to prevent the loss of files and sensitive information would be to completely wipe the system.

Also, the only way to prevent the exploit from happening on your PC is to avoid downloading .rtf files from untrusted sources.
