Answer Europol Police Adds Crypto Queen Roja Ignatova and Founder of the OneCoin Project to its Most Wanted List

The arena of encrypted digital currencies has expanded and its adoption has increased all over the world, and of course there is a side effect of this expansion represented in widespread fraud.

Ponzi schemes and other scams related to the cryptocurrency ecosystem have increased.

OneCoin is one of the most visible examples of global scams.

Europol appears to be focused on closing the case and putting its promoters behind bars, no matter how long that takes.

Yesterday, May 11, Europol added Roja Ignatova, founder of the OneCoin Ponzi scheme, to its list of Europe’s most wanted fugitives, offering a reward of up to €5,000 to anyone who helps track down her whereabouts.

According to Europol’s information, Roja Ignatova is wanted for fraud offenses that affected the financial interests of people in the European Union.

Roja Ignatova raised more than 5 billion euros using OneCoin:

Roja Ignatova is the founder of the OneCoin Ponzi scheme, which raised nearly €5 billion by the end of 2007 from investors in more than 170 countries.

Now Roja Ignatova is a fugitive and has not been found yet.

Roja Ignatova had previously launched the OneCoin project in mid-2014, and sold the project’s currency to investors as the future “Bitcoin Killer”.

But as with many Ponzi schemes, such as Arbistar or Bitconnect, when Roja Ignatova sensed danger, she fled, taking billions of dollars with her.

In December 2016, the Italian Antimonopoly Authority issued an injunction against One Network Services Ltd [OneCoin]describing its activities as an illegal hierarchical sales system.

In 2017, the company’s accounts were frozen in different parts of the world.

Europol is looking for Roja Ignatova:

According to Europol, the whereabouts of Roja Ignatova have not been known since October 25, 2017.

This allegedly happened after she learned that the US government was investigating her.

She disappeared shortly thereafter, leaving her brother, Konstantin Ignatov (who was arrested in 2019) in charge of the project.

In addition, Europol told Europol that losses caused by OneCoin around the world amount to several billion dollars, adding that Roja Ignatova and her comrades are likely to be armed and that anyone wishing to cooperate with the authorities should be careful.

How did the “OneCoin” project work?

The “Onecoin” fraudulent crypto project sold educational materials or packages from 100 to 118,000 euros in cryptocurrency trading.

The packages included various benefits with which investors can mine “Onecoin”.

The mined cryptocurrencies were not accepted by any trading platform except for the trading company called “Xcoinx”, which raised alarms in the community and ended up as a widespread scam.
