Soon after, blockchain security firm PeckShield warned of ongoing phishing attacks.
The team behind OpenSea said they are actively investigating the exploit rumors, explaining that the incident was indeed a phishing attack but that it originated outside the OpenSea website.
The company’s co-founder also studied the issue, later on, noting that 32 users were victims of an attacker, and some of their NFTs were stolen.

He further confirmed that the team believed the attack had been halted as there were no further reports of fraudulent emails.
In addition, he refuted rumors that $200 million was stolen from the platform.
Their internal estimates showed that the offender had sold some NFT worth $1.7 million in Ethereum at the moment.
