Answer Opera unveils Internet browser project focused on Crypto and Web 3.0

Opera, the multinational Norwegian technology company behind the popular internet browser of the same name, has announced an all-new beta version called the Crypto Browser Project.

Opera’s Crypto Browser Project:

The Opera blog post revealed that the new initiative has built-in Web 3.0 features, with the ultimate goal of accelerating the evolution of the next generation of the web.

The new project from Opera aims to provide additional functionality beyond the traditional browser and is designed to work with different types of decentralized applications (dApps).

The product provides access to the latest blockchain news, upcoming free airdrops, a calendar of upcoming events for crypto projects, NFTs, crypto communities, educational content, podcasts, and videos.

Additionally, users can also check cryptocurrency prices and gas fees as well as general market sentiment.

Opera said the crypto market can be accessed and dApps logged in directly from the browser with the help of the new native crypto wallet.

There is no need to install any extensions, native ad blocker and tracker blocker, or register a VPN browser.

The Crypto Project Opera boasts a secure clipboard that enables users to copy and paste securely.

Opera continues efforts towards crypto and blockchain:

Opera introduced the world’s first browser with a crypto-enabled wallet and it comes built-in in 2018.

Since then, it has integrated several blockchain networks, such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Celo, and Nervos.

The platform has also entered into partnerships with the Handshake, NEAR, Polygon, and Solana blockchains.

She stressed that the goal is not to focus on the blockchain or just one cryptocurrency.

Instead, Opera is seeking to integrate several decentralized blockchain and domain naming systems into crypto browsers, thus enabling users to decide which one to use.

From now on, the browser will add more features such as support for Layer 2 solutions.

Citing environmental concerns and high transaction costs, Opera emphasized the importance of Layer 2 solutions as it moved the industry from PoW to PoS networks.
