Convicted and imprisoned mastermind and founder of Silk Road store Ross Ulbricht caused quite a stir on Twitter after showing his NFT auction dates.

A Twitter account operated by a supporter of “Ulbricht” announced that the auction for his collection of NFTs will begin in two days.

The NFT titled “Ross Ulbricht Genesis Collection” will be available at the Superare NFT Market from December 2 to December 8.

The auction will see the minting of 11 of Ulbricht’s personal and hand-painted NFT art collections.

The artwork comes from different stages of Ulbricht’s life and the proceeds from the auction will be used to create a fund to support his efforts to get the money.

The crypto community encouraged the decision despite many claiming it would affect its fan base.

A crypto influencer known as “Crypto Cobain” praised the effort and called out those with a negative opinion, saying:

Ulbricht may have done more for the Bitcoin community and even more than all those who wear laser eyes combined.

Ulbricht is currently serving two consecutive life sentences plus 40 years in prison for his role in establishing and operating the infamous Silk Road department store.

The dark web is a free marketplace where buyers and sellers anonymously connect to exchange and trade.

The Silk Road store started in 2011, and was eventually hacked and closed down by the authorities in 2013 after the arrest of Ulbricht.

In its two years of online activity, Silk Road saw total deals totaling $1.2 billion.

Many people believe that Ulbricht’s life sentences were too harsh for a nonviolent crime and have lobbied support for his release for years.

His supporters also rallied for a pardon from former President Donald Trump.

The Silk Road is also credited with promoting the use of Bitcoin on the dark web, which gave the cryptocurrency early traction and also helped it reach major news.

The idea that bitcoin is an ideal tool for criminals mainly comes from its early use on the Silk Road Store.

So the Bitcoin community is more grateful and has always rallied to support Ulbricht.
